Christmas 2007

Has the fat man lost his mind?

I know it's a day late, but Merry Christmas everyone! I think Santa was a little off his rocker this year! Madison had a good two days of family, fun and presents! We spent Christmas Eve with my parent. This has gotten to be a tradition. Madison tried some crab, and no reaction, so I guess she has no shellfish allergy. Yay! It would be hard to be a part of our family during the summer if you couldn't eat shellfish!

Santa was a little ill prepared this year. I could have sworn I heard him and a few of his elves outside my house on Monday night fighting with a slide. Probably the very slide that made it's way into my house. It was sitting right beside the kitchen they installed in my living room that very same night! She also got a Dora rug, my twinn doll, vacuum cleaner set (I thought she might be afraid since she is terrified of ours, but nope), She got a lot of clothes, a lot of food for her kitchen, Dora toys, an Elmo toys, a radio flyer trike, and Butterscotch the pony! There was much more, but It would get boring to read. A Big thanks to mom and dad, Ed and Linda, Jay and Kristina, Gramma Catherine and Cassie for helping us to spoil our little one. Oh yeah, Santa deserves a hand too!

Christmas morning was spent with Grandma and Grandpa at our house. We all were excited to see Madison's reaction to her slide and kitchen. She almost didn't notice at first b/c she saw grandpa, but it didn't take long and she was off! It was great and daddy got it all on tape! And boy was she into the presents. SHe enjoyed playing santa herself too and handed out presents from the tree. We went back to mom and dad's for Christmas night and then home and crashed into bed!

Madison's vocabulary has really flourished in the past few days. SHe says "here you go" Yucky mop and broom and "hey girl hey" thanks to Nina. She says other things too, and I know I am forgeting them, but it is 8 am and we started off at 0500 this morning. Madison and I have already cooked a full meal in her kitchen, vacuumed the living room with her vacuum, had real breakfast, and she has been down he slide 30-40 times with her twinn doll!

Our camera is in the car, and it's too cold for me to go out, but I promise to post pictures soon!

~Aaron and I had a nice Christmas too. I am no longer typing on the floor. That's right, we got a new computer table and a new monitor, a printer for my pictures since no one can figure out the fancy deal aaron got when we bought our computer, I also got a nice Coach picture album to show off our beautiful baby girl! I know I am forgetting thing, but please don't take offense. You see, it is early and well, you got the story! I will post pictures soon!

All about yesterday

So, If you have read Carrie's blog in my last post, you have an idea that yesterday was a little rough. It was however also an ok day. Madison handled the crowds and attitudes of mall pretty well. She saw Santa again and was a doll. There were rough spots, but over all she as good. People of the public, and Cracker Barell however were a little rough. Despite the tough points, we eventually found the humor in them and even got a few good laughs!

Holidays bring out the worst in some...

From Carrie's blog (Hope you don't mind):

Dear People of Fredericksburg,

I would like to take this opportunity to remind some of you all how idiotic you truly are. First of all to "Stephanie B" at Cracker Barrel: May Santa leave you a very small lump of coal in your stocking for the way you treated me and my kids and my friend and her kid today. Kids will be kids - their behavior is normal. You, however, picking up a salt shaker, huffing, then slamming it on our table is not acceptable behavior at all. Also, you could have waited until after we left to complain to all your little waitress friends instead of five of you all standing there staring at us like we're a freak show. And poop on your manager too for letting you act that way and condoning your attitude. I had no other choice but to file a complaint with your corporate office about you and your cronies today. Have a happy holiday season. May you rot in a cubicle somewhere by yourself doing data entry - that's all your personality is good for.

To the witch at Macy's today: No, I do not give my child something to make her be quiet when she's in the middle of a tantrum. Did you not learn in raising your own children that you do not reward such behavior? Even better, how about if I give you a knuckle sandwich?

To the woman who walked passed Moose while he was flicking water from his cupholder - there's no need for you to cut your eyes and frown at him. You're not dry clean only, and you're definitely not so sweet that you'll melt. But, oh wait, that's right, they threw water on the wicked witch and she melted - no wonder why you were upset.

To the kind gentleman who helped me catch my children when both of them decided to run from me at the same time - Thank you oh so much. You have helped to restore my faith in the people of this redneck community.

To Santa - I am so sorry my children totally wigged out while I was trying to get a picture of them with you. Maybe next year will be better - I thought they really liked you this year!

To my friend, Jen - if I ever get really curious, just remind me of tonight and the consequences that come with curiosity (although it sort of was worth waiting for). The silly nurse in me wanted to know why three fire trucks, an ambulance, the fire marshall, the sheriff, and two state troopers went flying by us. Some poor person had managed to flip their car onto its top in the median. We were stuck for like half an hour and couldn't see anything.

So, now that I've moaned and groaned, and I'm sure some of you have laughed until you need to change your undies, I hope you all have a good night!

The tree is up!

And partially decorated. It was quite a feat with an almost 2 year old and her disorganized parents, but here we are, 6 days until Christmas and the tree is up and has lights and SOME decorations, Of course Madison keeps taking them off anyways =o) Last night aaron was playing with a flashlight and putting it on the wall and ceiling ( similar to what you do to tease a cat) and Madison was turning every which way tracking it and saying, "Hi Star!" It was adorable.

Extra prayers are needed for a friend of mine. Her baby Dolan is just one month old and was born at 30 weeks which is 2 1/2 months early. He is in the NICU and has had a setback. He is requiring extra pressure to breath right now and antibiotics for an infection. Please pray for them that their little boy will fight and get well sooner rather than later so he can be in his mommy's arms again! Fight Dolan!

My new coat!

On Friday Aaron and I met Grandma out for lunch at Cracker Barell! Madison loves to eat Okra, but first she peels all the breading off and puts it back in the bowl. She is too funny. I know she got the taste for okra from me and my dad... maybe Aaron's dad too. After lunch Grandma gave us Madison's new coat. It is really cute! Then we ran to get a Christmas Tree. Madison picked it out!

December days just fly away...

Where has the month gone? It feels like we just had Thanksgiving, Halloween for that matter, and it is just a week plus a few days 'til Christmas! Madison is totally captivated by Santa. She visits him every time we go to the mall. She sits on his lap and hugs him. Infact, this time he asked her if she thought of anything else she wanted. It's pretty bad when Santa remembers your kid from visits at the mall! Maybe he'll be extra good to her this year!

Friday December 14, 2007 Ma-Maw turned 50! Poppy turned 50 in June for those of you who missed it. We went out to dinner at Outback. Madison seemed shocked that my parents were out of their house! First time she has ever been out to dinner with my parents. Madison managed to coax Poppy out before dinner arrived o feed the ducks and then got us all to take her back out there before we left. Then we went to the mall for some shopping, and you guessed it, Santa!

Saturday we went to the Pitts' family Christmas. It was in Front Royal this year at my Uncle Butch's house. Miss Olivia is 5 now and what a doll! She was wonderful with Madison. Madison thought she was a princess. They dressed up as Disney Princesses and even wore the shoes! She loves her easel and pet hospital too... Madison was also correctly identifying the colors on the tree! Her new favorite question is WHY? Gotta love that one! She is also all done with nursing! She's a a big girl now! Oh yeah, and Kendall and Shannon came over when we got home. The girls are so cute together, My camera was dead so I used a back up. As soon as I can figure out how to get them up I will!

Where did the day go?

Today was a super quick day. I can't believe it is now 8:40 pm and Madison is tucked into bed sleeping soundly. We started off the day dropping daddy at the train. She waved bye-bye and off we went to play at home. She made a jungle gym out of me and merely nibbled at her breakfast. We played and watched Sesame Street and before we knew it, it was nap time. We read Green Eggs and Ham to which Madison replied "one more time" and then had a quick little story. We rocked and off she went to dream land. I climbed in bed for a nap too. Christina and Theo came over today. Madison slept until 2pm. Yep, 3 1/2 hours! Christina looked great and Theo was adorable as always! He almost 6 weeks old! Hard to believe. I used to chase that little guy around in Christina's belly and even watched him take his first breath. She labored like a pro! Now he is snuggling on Madison and what a cuddler! Madison kept saying "baby, baby" She loved him! One day she will make a great Big sister. We tried to snap a few pics of the munchkins in action! And Madison has yet to put the Hello Kitty's down that Christina brought her. They even went to Walmart, and inside too. The off to get Daddy from the train, A quick bath and snuggles and then off to bed. What a great day!

early mornings, long days

Madison has been such a trooper. She rarely complains about being pulled from bed when she is fast asleep. She wakes right up and gives us all of her "guys" from her bed and recently her blanket too. She has started calling her lovies "num, nums" Don't ask me.. This morning she was sleeping so good. I put her on my shoulder and she had her head on me and I was patting her back and she started patting back! I love this parenting thing! What a sweetie. We are starting to get excited for Christmas. I know it's all because of Madison. She is in love with Santa this year and I can't wait to meet him in the living room Christmas Eve to "help" him set up. I don't know how you guys without little ones are getting into the spirit... It's just hard this year. Somehow a little voice calling "Tanta Tanta" make that fire glow.

Time out is also starting to work. It's neat to see that she is starting to recognize that it means she has done something she shouldn't have. She is also starting to share! And our cold is gone! I have so much shopping to do. I think I may go tomorrow if Madison goes to Grandpa's office Christmas Party. A little birdie told me Santa might be there!

PS Daddy made it home safely. He even had a Dora Backpack in tow!

A Tree Hunting She Will Go!

Mom and Dad took Madison tree hunting for their Christmas tree on Sunday. It's become somewhat of a tradition for them as they did it last year too. I think she picked a smaller tree this year! More room for presents, HAHAHA!

Ho Ho Ho!

Took Madison to see Santa with Shannon and Kendall. She was really cute. She calls Kendall "Kennal" and kept saying "Santa Wait!" She did not want to get off of his lap. Sorry the pictures are blurry. They are a picture of a picture. Can't seem to get my husband to hook the wireless printer we had to have straight so it will scan to the computer.
