All bets are off...

When your child is sick, all bets are off. Nothing matters but them. Not work, or pending vacations, not cookouts, or sleep. Madison started with a "cold/runny nose" about a week agao, but was otherwise fine. Thursday she ran a fever about 100.0 F. Today (Friday) She had a meltdown after a trip to the grocery store. She nursed and quickly fell asleep. 20 min later she woke up crying and barking like a seal. It was the scariest thing I have ever heard. She was pitiful. Needless to say we headed to the doctor. Negative for strep, but definatley seems to be croup. She then had a fever of about 102.0 F. Sme tylenol and motrin took care of that, but as for sleep, well that's a different story. SHe slept from 7:20p-7:45 and 8:00-9:15. I wonder if it is the Prednisone? Aaron then brought her to me in bed where she nursed for about an hour, but never back to sleep. She then had a meltdown when I wsa changing her diaper and jammies b/c she was sweaty. It was awful. Aaron and I felt like new parents bring an alien home for the first time. She was totally out of character. We wrestled herdiaper and clothes change and then I brought her down stairs to snuggle. Elmo isn't nearly as cute at this hour. She acts like it is 12 noon, not midnight. On the plus, her breathing is better and she is playing and happy. SHe does however sould like a cross between a frog and a seal. My poor baby. And you could tell her Daddy's heart was breaking for her too. It sucks to be helpless. THank goodness for Sesame Street and Crayola Color Magic. SHe is a wonderful little artist in the middle of the night. Daddy wants her to sleep with us tonight... that might hapen since the humidifier is now in our room.

If you want a chuckle, and proof that children watch our every move... Madison shaved her leg today! Silly girl.

Wish us luck and send prayers or way.

Aww, I hope she is feeling better! I hate that feeling of helplessness! Hang in there, Mom, she will be back to herself soon! xoxo to both of you!
